Through a collection of "ephemeral" films that have now been forgotten, this work archaeologically examines the social conditions and consumer culture of America in the "good old days." It is said that the short films produced by American companies, educational institutions, and advertising agencies before and after the war exceed 600,000.
None of them were made to be preserved and passed on to future generations. Media archaeologist Rick Prelinger is a valuable man who has seen and examined what they were like.
Prelinger's two Macintosh CD-ROM electronic publications, "To New Horizons" and "You Can't Get There from Here," which were created early in the QuickTime era, have been compiled onto one CD-ROM and are newly released with a renewal (full colorization, MAC/WINDOWS hybrid).
The overall design and taste are also reminiscent of the oldies. It is full of the joy of looking through an old gravure magazine. This is also an introductory work to Prelinger's new series, "Forgotten Films."
